About WPC Malaysia
About the World Pickleball Championship in Malaysia
WPC Malaysia is the official Malaysian presence of the World Pickleball Championship (WPC) Series — the largest and longest-running international pickleball tournament circuit in the world. Founded in 2019 by Jan Papi, the WPC Series has grown to encompass over 80 tournaments across more than 15 countries on four continents, with over 60,000 registered players participating globally.
Malaysia’s Journey with Pickleball
Pickleball in Malaysia has experienced meteoric growth in recent years. From community clubs on neighbourhood courts to packed professional tournament calendars, the sport has captured the imagination of Malaysians across all ages and backgrounds. Malaysia currently ranks among the top three nations worldwide in pickleball player participation and holds the largest DUPR user base in all of Asia.
This trajectory culminated in 2025 when Malaysia hosted its first-ever WPC Grand Slam event — the WPC Asia Grand Slam: Malaysia 2025 — at The Pickle Grounds rooftop venue atop One World Hotel in Petaling Jaya. The tournament drew 1,500+ players from 20+ countries and generated approximately MYR 13 million in tourism economic impact.
WPC Malaysia Leadership
Caryn Yap serves as Managing Director of WPC Malaysia. Under her leadership, WPC Malaysia has positioned the country as a central node in the WPC’s expanding Asia network. Her vision: to make Malaysia not merely a participant in the global pickleball movement, but a defining force shaping its future in Asia.
Our Mission
WPC Malaysia is committed to growing pickleball at every level — from grassroots recreational play to elite international competition. Through the WPC Malaysia Series, Grand Slam events, and strong ties with the Malaysia Pickleball Association, WPC Rankings, and Pickleball Global, WPC Malaysia offers Malaysian players the most complete competitive pathway available anywhere in Asia.
